Kei hea ahau? |
Nau mai, haere mai, welcome to our blog. We are a small reo rua (bilingual) class of year 4-6 tamariki in Ōtautahi. Our blog is a way that we can share our learning with the world and it gives our tamariki an authentic audience. It is also a place for us to trial new and exciting technology. Please leave us a comment and follow us if you want to see more of what we are doing. Mauri ora

Awesome work from Rūma 8
Day #6
Yesterday I spent lots of time chilling at home. The rain didn't stop but we still had fun.
This is what lockdown looks like in our house.

Day #4 Whānau yoga
Kia ora kōutou
It's been a bit cooler and wetter today so time for our bubble to do some yoga as part of our exercise.
Take a look at Ariā and Mana doing yoga with Matua Hector. Ariā has also been helping with cooking. Send me through some photos of what you have been doing.

Day # 3 What's everyone up to?
How exciting to have some of our classroom teachers, children and even Mr Roberts sending through images of what they have been up to. It only take a few minutes and it keeps us all visible which I love. Imagine the experts we will be by the time we get back.
So if you are not sure what to do here is a step by step how to make a Screencastify. There is heaps of information here so just go to the parts that you need.

Creating our own board games!
Since we have been enjoying playing board and card games we got a chance to create our own board or card game.
We planned what our game would look like, the rules and how to play. Then we actually made and created our game.
We practised playing our game and showed others how to play it which was so much fun!
Here are some pictures of our games and us working together to make them. We spoke to each other kindly, listened to others and shared our own ideas.

Developing social skills and team work
As a class we are very competitive and often spoil games outside because we can't loose without getting angry with each other. So we decided to brainstorm ways that we could get better at playing together and supporting each other.
We have a board games slot of 45 mins once a week. The aim of this is to practise getting along with each other while playing games. We are getting better. We are even going to have a chess tournament later in the term.
