Nau mai, haere mai, welcome to our blog. We are a small reo rua (bilingual) class of year 4-6 tamariki in Ōtautahi. Our blog is a way that we can share our learning with the world and it gives our tamariki an authentic audience. It is also a place for us to trial new and exciting technology. Please leave us a comment and follow us if you want to see more of what we are doing. Mauri ora

Kia ora Joe's Garage Wigram
A huge thanks to Anton and the the crew at Joe's Garage Wigram for the lovely breakfast this morning. The Trusted Trekkers were lucky enough to go out as a group and enjoy pikelets with jam and cream or maple syrup or scrambled eggs on toast and a huge glass of juice. Mr Roberts and I had a delicious muesli and coffee. What an awesome start to the day.

Geometry Construction
WALT construct 3D shapes using marshmallows and spaghetti.
We had lots of fun working in a group to construct the shapes. We did struggle when we had to stand up the shapes though. Look at what we have created.

New World Little Gardens
This week we have started our class challenge to grow the New World Little Garden. WE started by planting the seeds in their individual pots and then we were given the responsibility of looking after one plant each.
We then discussed what the requirements are for a plant to grow and also remembered what we had learnt about photosynthesis last term. WE have started our individual slide inquiries and we will be adding photos to record the progress.
Here are a few photos of our first week.

The Switch by Anahera
I’m in a game I shoot 1, I scored 1, I hit my head against the ball boy. I wake up and I felt strange I look around then I go see what is down stairs and a lady gave me some keys. I went to go look outside and I see a fast car, I
hopped in the fast car and I drove off then I went to practise for my big game then I hopped
In my car and I drive off to school I finished and I went home to have dinner then I went to bed and fall asleep so
can wake up early for my game so I can have a little bit of time to practise. It was time to go outside and play his big game the ball boy was now playing soccer so they still went out to play there big game Cristiano Ronaldo kicked the ball and he tried to get the ball so the ball boy went to try kick it but then Ronaldo tried to as well. So Ronaldo and the ball boy donged heads really really hard ouch that hurt really bad they switch back.
They keep playing they felt weird after the game so I went to shoot a goal and when I went home I was glad that we had bumped heads so I wouldn't feel weird In the mornings so I went to sleep and the next day I went to practise so the ball boy at practise and I said hi to him so we were best mates at school and at home and at soccer and so I went home and I was bored so I called my friend and I said to him do you want to came over for the night? So he came over for the night and then we watched our game on tv and we saw ourselves on tv and we also saw the switch and so we turned the tv off because we did not want to see It happen. So we went to another soccer game and we were playing in the same team because we did not want the switch to happen again so we went to training and then after that we went to get dinner and we had to eat healthy and so we got some salads and waters then we went home to eat and watched soccer.

Ancient Greece
This term's kaupapa is Ancient Greece.
We have already learnt how to draw two types of columns, the Dorian and the Ionic. Both of these were used in Ancient Greek Architecture.
We have also learnt some of the traditional greek designs and incorporated them onto our greek vases. We plan to make Greek vases and urns using paper mache and these are a work in progress

The Finished Product
Wow it seems ages since we finished the Pā and at present we are trying to find a home for it. We have contacted the Halswell Public Library and they are probably going to find a space for it to be displayed.
Here is our finished product. We may even have a go at using screen castify to record what each area is about. That will be our next step.
