Kiore traps!

Yesterday we looked at kiore (rat) traps that Māori used! There were 3 different types

1. Rua torea
2. Taupopoki 3. Tāwhiti makamaka Check out their blogs to see what they created! They designed their own one or based their kiore trap off one of these traps.

Putting a video on your blog

Kia ora e te whānau

This is a post to show you (hopefully) how to put up a video without it taking so long!

First save the video to your drive (on the left hand side, upload new file, chose where you have saved it I usually put it on my desktop then upload it from there). Put it in the right subject folder.

Then up the top when you are writing your blog post there should be "Link" in blue

Click on it

A box pops up

On another tab open up your video (on your drive) and copy and paste the URL in the box (next to "web address" box) click "Okay" and the link should come up under your writing --- see my link below ...

https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1faaY_EQuKyTJYCnoBiUDc8_XzR_2I3mZ

Then people will click on the link and be taken to your video. They may have to then ask for access which will come up on your email and you can allow them.

Hopefully that works! Please email me if you still have some trouble.
Kia pai to rā

ANZAC Day Sharing

What a beautiful start to the day remembering our past and present people that fought in the wars. At 6am we gathered in our bubbles at the end of our driveways as we listened to Radio New Zealand broadcast a live stream of the Last post, the Ode, National Anthems and a short kōrero from Ron Marks. It was really nice and a warm morning too. After that we had pancakes cooked on the BBQ and at 9.30am there was an ANZAC karakia for our class and anyone else that wanted to join in with a sharing of some special ANZAC blog posts and a few waiata. Here is a short movie of our google hangout.

Day #4 Whānau yoga

Kia ora kōutou

It's been a bit cooler and wetter today so time for our bubble to do some yoga as part of our exercise.

Day #4 Thanks for sharing

Love this poster from Arabella, tūmeke e hoa!

Day # 3 What's everyone up to?

How exciting to have some of our classroom teachers, children and even Mr Roberts sending through images of what they have been up to. It only take a few minutes and it keeps us all visible which I love. Imagine the experts we will be by the time we get back.

Creating our own board games!

Since we have been enjoying playing board and card games we got a chance to create our own board or card game.
We planned what our game would look like, the rules and how to play. Then we actually made and created our game.
We practised playing our game and showed others how to play it which was so much fun!

Here are some pictures of our games and us working together to make them. We spoke to each other kindly, listened to others and shared our own ideas.

Developing social skills and team work

As a class we are very competitive and often spoil games outside because we can't loose without getting angry with each other. So we decided to brainstorm ways that we could get better at playing together and supporting each other.

We have a board games slot of 45 mins once a week. The aim of this is to practise getting along with each other while playing games. We are getting better. We are even going to have a chess tournament later in the term.
